Katherine Lawrence is a globally recognized nutritionist and Board-Certified Autism Specialist with more than 17 years of experience teaching whole-food, plant-based nutrition. She has taught over 20,000 students in Texas while building a multi-million-dollar sales business, becoming a published author (African American Nutrition), and founding a nonprofit called Food Saved Me Institute.
After serving in Iraq with the USAF, Katherine moved to Texas to work as an aerospace engineer. While there, she was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis, uterine cysts and infertility, including stage 4 endometriosis and uterine cysts. When presented with no cure and a full hysterectomy, she made a complete dietary transformation to whole-food, plant-based instead. Over 6 months, she was able to completely reverse her condition and go on to have three healthy boys. Katherine’s recovery redirected her life as she became dedicated to bringing the power of nutrition science to the masses.
She decided to leave engineering and pursue nutrition to help others overcome their health challenges. She has completed nutrition certification programs from Cornell, Stanford and, most recently, Harvard. She was an instructor for T Colin Campbell’s online Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate program for 3 years and has been a PCRM Food for Life instructor under Dr. Neal Barnard for 16 years. Her story has been featured in several of his books and podcasts, including “Your Body in Balance” and “The Cheese Trap”.
Katherine founded Food Saved Me Institute, a non-profit designed to teach business owners how to use WFPB nutrition classes for lead generation to build their businesses! FSMI provides full curriculums and videos, beautiful handouts, marketing, scripts and specialized business training so they can start teaching immediately. FSMI also partners with physicians and oncologists to provide online nutrition classes to their patients. Currently, FSMI has 134 instructors across 15 countries using Katherine’s curriculums and business strategies to grow their reach in their communities.
When Katherine’s son was diagnosed with autism, OCD & ADHD, it sent her on a new journey of discovery. She is now creating classes to support parents of children on the spectrum and was recently selected to be a TEDx speaker on this topic in October!
Food Saved Me Institute offers online nutrition classes directly to the public, starting with our most popular topics: Food Addiction, Immune Boosters & Busters, Nutrition for Better Sleep, Healthy Meal preps and Ovarian Cancer Prevention. Once the TEDx is published, our new class on Neurodivergent Nutrition will be released!
